GSIS retirees urged to transact online – Manila Bulletin
On Thursday, September 2, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) urged retirees to conduct their transactions online to protect them from infection with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
âThe safety, health and comfort of our retirees is a priority for GSIS, especially now that there is a pandemic. Since last year, we have implemented online transaction methods with us so that our retirees do not need to leave their homes and do so anytime, any day, âsaid Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, President and CEO of GSIS, in Filipino.
The Interagency Working Group for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) also issued Resolution # 100 directing âpension issuing agencies to adopt alternative modes of validation for older retirees instead of personal appearances or for the presentation of documents âfrom 1 March.
The GSIS has also urged retirees to renew their active status by complying with the Annual Revalidation of Retiree Information (APIR) in the month of their birth to ensure continued collection of their pension and, where applicable, the granting of milestone allowances and their use of the enhanced retirement loan.
Thanks to APIR, only qualified retirees receive the monthly pension, thus ensuring the sustainability of the fund.
Macasaet urged retirees to send an SMS or email request to their GSIS management branch for their online APIR calendar.
For those who are abroad, they can send an email request to [email protected] or the GSIS Skype Appointment System on its website.
Those who were previously visited at home each year due to advanced age, illness, disability or other health issues affecting their mobility are encouraged to request their APIR calendar online by email or by SMS in order to eliminate the risk for retirees and GSIS employees.
Retirees or their representatives should indicate in the text or email request the retiree’s name, date of birth and preferred online channel for APIR interview. The following requirements should also be sent via email: Photo of their UMID and eCard Plus temporary or in its absence at least two valid government issued IDs.
Surviving pensioners must submit a completed surviving spouse self-declaration form, while disabled pensioners must provide a copy of their annual medical progress report.
GSIS retirees can also apply for the Subsidized Retirement Loan and Emergency Retiree Loan online through eGSISMO or by emailing their processing agency.
